Preschool Learning Videos

I know videos and screens in general can get a lot of bad press but at the age of 24 months, my youngest had pretty much taught herself the alphabet and numbers to above 10, from being allowed to choose and enjoy preschool songs and materials, through such mediums.

Although not everyone may be a visual learner, for those that are, ICT, such as computers, tablets and videos, can be a great asset.

Some of my daughter's favorite videos can be found on the selection of video channels shown below. Her favorites are any which are related to the alphabet or numbers. She has recently progressed onto choosing to watch vidoes involving addition and word building (let me know if you'd like links to those please)! Other than monitoring and a bit guidance and supervision, I have to admit, I can't even take the credit for it!

I hope some of your young ones enjoy the videos too. If they like the Busy Beaver songs, there is a paid for them app here, however, the video channel links are free to use.

Letter Sounds and Sight Words Powerpoint Slideshow With Audio (Reception age onwards)

When my third child started school, they started learning sets of sounds and words, which they had to master before they could progress. My daughter seemed to struggle with learning them from the school's book, so, appreciating her fondness for technology, I made a powerpoint slideshow of phases 2-5.

The slideshow has audio, so the child can see the word, click on the speaker image to hear the sound/word. Once they are more confident, they can start saying the sound/word they see, before clicking the image to check if they were correct. That's a couple ways of using them anyway.

Phase 1 involves talking about letter sounds with your child. To access phases 2-5, please click on the links below. These are provided free of charge, for parent's to use with their children at home but please contact me for anything beyond that.

The slideshows are provided here, for your convenience. I used Microsoft Office Powerpoint, to access audio but others may be able to play it too? I hope the slides help your little one to grasp reading skills as quickly as they helped mine.
